The magic fountains first performance was on May 19, 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition. Carles Buigas designed the fountain and over 30000 laborers were contracted to work on the project, which was built in 1 year.
The magic fountain stands ahead of the Palau Nacional. It is located in Montjuïc Parc, just up from the Plaza de España.
When the fountain is active, it is constantly changing colour and shape. Why not join the hundreds of people who watch the approx. 15 minute amazing display of light, water and music.
At the same time, the Palau National is illuminated, providing a beautiful background. This show runs every thirty minutes and is free of charge. The start and end date depend on the time of the year, but the best time to see the fountain is at sunset.
