Montjuic

Barcelona
Montjuïc is a 213 meter high hill located to the southeast of Barcelona’s city centre.

Several thousand years ago, Celts settled on the Montjuïc, and the hill was later used by the Romans as a ceremonial place.

Today the hill has a lot of tourist sights and attractions, two of which originated from the 1929 International Exhibition and the 1992 Olympic Games. One of these sights is the Palau Nacional (National Palace), the central pavilion of the International Exhibition. It is home to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.

At the centre of the plaza in front of the Palau Nacional is the Font Màgica (Magic Fountain). You have a great view of the palace from here, especially at night when both the building and the fountain are illuminated.

Other attractions include the Montjuïc Castle and Anella Olímpica (Olympic Ring) – these are well worth a visit.
